Request #19-1417
  Closed

I am requesting from Jennifer Lin an explanation of why the job description submitted by EPL on June 4 (Librarian 1, 18.75 hrs; replacing Heather Ross) was amended to reduce the requirement from 3 years librarian experience to 1 year of public service experience in a library. Email records (see below) indicate that Teri Campbell provided HR with her rationale by phone on the afternoon of June 4.  I believe that this communication falls within the scope of my previous request 19-1270.

I certify that any records obtained through this FOIA are to be used solely to verify and expand upon information already provided by previous FOIA requests, and will not be used or repurposed for any commercial purpose as prohibited by the City of Evanston FOIA Policy.

JUNE 4 (JENNIFER LIN TO MARY DANKWA)

Are they wanting to reduce all Librarian JDs work experience down to 1 year now? This needs to be an executive decision and I'd like to understand why too. Have we had issues recruiting librarians in the past? What's the reasoning for the reduction in work experience?

Hi Jen-please see attached JD. Are you ok with the minimum work experience requirement?

The previous JD's had 3 or more years of work experience as a Librarian or similar position.

     Hi Teri,
are you all wanting to lower the minimum requirement to one year for all Librarian positions?

If  so, can you explain the rationale? We might have discussed this in the past but I'm not quite sure what the reason is.
